This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Machining Manufacturing Engineer Manager. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects.

Assists with the planning, design, purchase, and/or implementation of integrated manufacturing, assembly or fabrication processes in a manufacturing plant.
Helps determine the manufacturing processes required to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
Works with engineering to identify problems with product and performance; may recommend solutions or enhancements.
Assists with plans and designs methods to improve efficiency in production.
Work to improve equipment availability and capability by utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.

Specialist(3): Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of coaching and developing. Guides other leaders on the use of coaching and developing skills Coaches direct reports and others through serious performance problems or major skill building. Dedicates significant time to structured and planned work in this area. Consistently on the look out for stretch assignments and development experiences for direct reports and other key talent. Has a reputation for being a strong developer of others.

Continuous Process Improvement - This skill involves Cummins Operating System (COS) Practice 2 -Synchronized Flows. Continuous Process Improvement works to eliminate waste, improve quality, and reduce production time and cost by using Continuous Process Improvement tools. Its focus is the reduction of the 7 wastes (Over-production, Waiting time, Transportation, Over-processing, Inventory, Motion and Scrap). Has extensive experience using continuous process improvement methodologies. Able to lead continuous process improvement projects and train others in continuous process improvement methodologies. Able to recognize continuous process improvement opportunities quickly using past experiences and training.
Equipment / Capital Procurement - Understanding the requirements for purchasing tools and equipment according to Cummins Production Equipment Specifications. Capital purchases require the approval of a Request for Capital Appropriations (RFA) which includes justification of the project from a financial/ strategic standpoint and must be completed in a specific format defined by the documented procedure. Thorough understanding of the Cummins Production Equipment Specifications. Significant experience in purchasing tools and equipment. Has written significant Request for Capital Appropriations (over $100K).
Fundamentals Of Safety - Comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health compliance, including federal regulations for general industry. Detailed understanding of how the provisions of the local workplace health and safety legislation may be implemented, rights and responsibilities under the legislation, the appeals process, recordkeeping, and voluntary protection programs. Understanding of general industry standards and the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards. Also includes knowledge of basic safety concepts such as personal protective equipment, behavior based safety, confined space entry, etc. Has a thorough understanding of safety regulations. Develops and implements an effective safety system to ensure compliance.
Problem Solving And Quality Improvement - Problem Solving and Improvement approaches, including understanding of tools/process type and selection, plus Corrective and Preventive Action processes. Needs no guidance with regards to this skill and can apply it in a wide range of work situations. Able to train others in problem solving.
Project Management - Capable of effectively managing complex projects with little to no guidance
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience preferred
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
- Bachelor of Science (or equivalent degree) Mechanical Engineering or a related field required

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
