Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you'll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.Position Sumamry:The Conditioned Based Maintenance (CBM) Technologist reports to the Mechanical Integrity Engineering Manager and is responsible for daily execution and oversight of the stationis CBM program, with emphasis on equipment performance, technical troubleshooting, and communication of required and recommended maintenance practices. iExperience with plant reliability programs and concepts, is preferred. iAdditionally, this position will assess, propose, and complete improvement projects consistent with departmental goals and participate in the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) practices for this area.Responsibilities:* Conducts routine testing of process equipment, including, but not limited to collection and analysis of equipment vibration data, thermography, lubrication, and flow characteristics.* Analyzes equipment failures and prepares reports regarding findings and cause of failures while identifying remedial actions, including revisions to the Maintenance strategy content and follows up on implementation of agreed actions.* Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation.* Conducts engineering and related studies.* Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.* Provide technical assistance/troubleshooting in resolving design, operation and maintenance problems and contact internal and external experts as required.* Minimum Level II Vibration Analyst from an accredited institution* Successful candidate should model Environmental, Health, and Safety principles* Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.* Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.* Maintains accurate records and files.Working Conditions:* Performs work in a power plant and an office environment; required to observe work in all areas of generating facilities which are power plant, industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, iwhich includes exposures to hot and cold temperatures, noise, ash, slag, coal dust, fumes, confined spaces, and extreme heights, working around pressurized, rotating, and energized equipment.* May be required to climb ladders and stairs at various heights; enter vessels or equipment with limited access; walk, stoop, bend or squat.* Must be able to read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make sound decisions.* Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use and reach with hands, arms and fingers.* Potential exposure to high stress situations and requirement to be available for emergency response upon request.* Base work hours are dayshift, 8 hours per day; 5 days per week, additional overtime will be required to support projects, plant outages and emergent problems.Basic/Required Qualifications:Either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology, or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or 12+ years equivalent experience without a degree.iDesired Qualifications:* Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.* Demonstrated ability to perform field troubleshooting of equipment.* Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations* Demonstrated ability and experience with large rotating equipment including but not limited to pumps, blowers, fans, compressors and turbines* Demonstrated familiarity with coal gasification, power generation, iand associ
