Research Associate - DNA/RNA, Indianapolis, IN

Six Month Contract via Kelly Services

The Systems Biology group within the Bioengineering Bioprocessing R&D (BBRD) a RA/Technician with expertise in sample collection and preprocessing in preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. The RA will utilize aseptic techniques and standard molecular biology tools to prepare DNA/RNA from bacteria for a variety of NGS assays in a high-throughput environment for large multi-omic research projects.

Qualifications Required:

  • Extracting DNA/RNA from Bacteria.

  • Executing standard Molecular Biology protocols.

  • Operating liquid-handling automation technologies.

  • Troubleshooting and testing of developmental workflows.

  • Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse group of staff.

  • Good organizational and computer skills.

  • College science background is required and Bachelor degree is preferred.

  • At least 1-2 year of previous laboratory experience in biology.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience handling DNA and RNA, libraries preparation, and qPCR.

  • Overall familiarity with next generation sequencing, Illumina HiSeq sequencing machines, PacBio, and 10X technology and molecular biology techniques.
