Raytheon IIS is a world leader in air traffic sensors and automation systems, responsible for providing air traffic tools to ANSPs in the US and abroad. We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer with a strong hardware installation background to join our Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) team developing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. The position is located in Marlborough, MA. This position is for an engineer who will perform design, development, maintenance, and enhancements to an existing tool that supports the deployment of site hardware throughout the US, and look for ways to apply their innovative thinking to extend the tool beyond the current norm. Regular duties include maintaining Raytheon-developed software to support deployment of material to sites; participating in design discussions and reviews with the hardware engineering team; coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and customers; and functioning as a valuable member of the team. Additionally, this candidate will: Support the STARS hardware deployment manager in the successful deployment of air traffic control material to sites throughout the US Develop and execute an innovative roadmap to enhance the product to provide additional value of the automation tool and apply it to other applications and programs Collaborate with systems and software engineering disciplines within Raytheon, suppliers, and Customers to develop and deliver air traffic automation systems The successful candidate will be an innovator and a self-starter, able to complete tasks given minimal direction and goals, and possess good technical aptitude and people skills. They will enjoy being part of our team, working with engineers in other disciplines and understanding the trade-offs between software and hardware implementation. The candidate must possess strong critical thinking skills and must be able to follow established processes. They must also have experience meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets. Required Experience and Skills: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Bachelor Degree with 4 years of related experience General knowledge of Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems Experience developing with Microsoft Access (or similar applications) and experience developing in other industry standard languages Experience with database systems, structures, and maintenance thereof General knowledge of hardware documentation structure (e.g. parts lists, family trees, etc.), bill of material (BOM) management, equipment kitting and shipping, and site installation needs Disciplined approach to configuration management of software code and hardware part numbers Experience collaborating in development with systems and software engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems Proven ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and develop a complete hardware design, and then verify the design via test and integration Effective communication skills, both oral and written as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) Willingness to support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel Desired Experience and Skills: Experience with air traffic control sensor or automation hardware Task Management or other Lead role experience for development efforts System level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills Proven innovator of new and emerging technologies Required Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of applicable work experience or Master’s degree with minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience. 113683
