Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you'll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.Position Summary:The Manager of Operations is responsible to lead Gibson station Production teams associated with unit generation, environmental control systems, and material handling. iThis role includes, but is not limited to, ensuring safe and effective execution and adherence to Operating Model principles, organizational development, and representation to support applicable FHO initiatives. The Manager Operations interfaces directly with the stations Manager Maintenance and Manager Technical to validate daily tactics and develop long term strategies to ensure continuous improvement. As a member of the station management team, the Manager Operations will drive the standard for engaged leadership and accountability to achieve the highest level of station safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and sustained efficiency.Responsibilities:* Provides leadership and direction to the production staff to ensure accomplishment of overall station performance goals and objectives.* Counsels, trains, evaluates, develops, guides and assists assigned personnel relative to job performance and duties* Acts as a liaison with business, charitable and political leaders, foundations, organizations and other external stakeholders of the station and corporation* Reviews performance and budget data for improvement opportunities or noticeable deviations for correction* Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice routines, work process improvement, maintenance and operation procedures* Develop and maintain positive working relationships between departments and internal customers* Communicate and lead the commitment to the applicable Operating Model within the Fossil/Hydro Operations Department.Working Conditions:* Performs work in an office environment; required to observe work in all areas of generating facilities which are power plant, industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. iMay be required to climb ladders and stairs at various heights; enter vessels or equipment with limited access; walk, stoop, bend or squat.Basic/Required Qualifications:* Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited university or college and 5 years power plant or industrial experience; or 13 years of related work experience* Desired Qualifications* Effective communication skills, both oral and written* Working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principles of generating station systems, equipment and processes* Demonstrated effective leadership skills* Financial knowledge and skills including ability to analyze data* Strong computer skills including ability to use various applications* Five years of previous Superintendent level experienceiSpecific Requirements:* Must be able to read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make sound decisions. iRegularly required to sit, talk, hear, use and reach with hands, arms and fingers. iThere is potential exposure to high stress situations and requirement to be available for emergency response as required by the needs of service. iii
