GENERAL PURPOSE

Provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician, in accordance with standards of nursing practice, regulations and as directed by the Director of Nursing Services. In the absence of the Wound Nurse, the Director of Nursing Service will assign these responsibilities accordingly.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Document resident progress in the medical record

  • Notify physician of new skin condition problems, changes of skin condition, and when skin conditions heal and document in resident's plan of care

  • Obtain changes in physician orders as indicated by resident's progress or lack of progress

  • Develop, update and revise care plans when appropriate

  • Communicate pertinent information regarding resident condition and progress to charge nurse and Director of Nursing Services

  • Maintain a clean and orderly treatment cart and restock treatment supplies

  • Consult with other professionals when indicated to determine appropriate treatment and plan of care

  • Follow Infection Control policies and procedures

  • Maintain oxygen and suction equipment as assigned

  • Assist with admission and discharge of residents. Participate in patient education, Licensed Staff meetings and facility/company training and educational activities

  • Attend Risk meetings and provide input

  • Provide or assist with providing education to staff on wound care protocols, treatments, interventions

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and according to all facility policies and procedures

  • Follow facility policy and procedure for treatment and documentation of skin concerns

  • Document pressure sore status weekly or more often as condition changes

CODE OF CONDUCT

Must adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy including documentation and reporting responsibilities.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State or hold a multistate license recognized through the Nursing Compact Recognition

  • Must hold and maintain a current CPR certification

  • Wound Certification preferable (WCC, WOCN)

  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND BEHAVIORS

  • Basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company software

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee and company proprietary information

  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Walking/mobility, reaching, bending, lifting and repositioning residents, grasping, pushing medication carts, pulling and fine hand coordination; ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures; ability to hear and respond to pages; ability to read and write; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate with residents and others; ability to understand and apply training and in-service education; ability to instruct personnel during training education and staff meetings; and ability to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple task.
